Following the success of past children's productions like The Ugly Duckling and Alice in Wonderland, Serenbe Playhouse's upcoming Season of Change kicks off June 7th at 11AM with The Velveteen Rabbit as you've never seen it before. The Playhouse once again takes a well-known, beloved classic and reimagines it to delight audiences of all ages!

"We are so excited to kick off our 4th season, and biggest to date, with The Velveteen Rabbit. We've assembled an excellent cast, creative and production team to make this story come to life! This production poses the question: what makes us real? The answer is very simple: Love makes us real." - Brian Clowdus, Founder & Executive/Artistic Director; Director of The Velveteen Rabbit

"In creating the concept, I imagined The Velveteen Rabbit had it been written by Edgar Allan Poe and then made into a children's film by Tim Burton, taking the heart of the original, but adding in a unique Southern Gothic flare." - Robyn Rebecca Young, Creator of Concept for The Velveteen Rabbit

"The Velveteen Rabbit is a story about the beauty of friendship and the transformative power of love. This adaptation does not shy away from the darker themes in the original story, but I believe this makes the hopeful ending even more powerful and beautiful." - Rachel Teagle, Playwright of The Velveteen Rabbit

The Velveteen Rabbit is based on the original story by Margery Williams, adapted by Rachel Teagle, with concept by Robyn Rebecca Young. This production will be directed by Brian Clowdus and choreographed by Bubba Carr. The show runs at The Grange Creek behind Fern's Market, Friday, June 7 - Saturday, July 27 (Every Friday & Saturday at 11AM).

There once was a Velveteen Rabbit, splendid and new! Travel to a time when toys were sewn with stitches and before modern technologies became all the rage in this original adaptation of the Margery Williams' classic. Serenbe Playhouse's The Velveteen Rabbit will remind children of all ages that being real isn't how you are made, but a feeling that can change you forever.
