RiverCenter Celebrates National Day of Puppetry With Cashore Marionettes in LIFE IN MOTION Today

Joseph Cashore creates illusions so powerful that they transcend the art of puppetry to create convincing and compelling theater for audiences of all ages. His remarkable artistry, featuring colorful and amazingly lifelike marionettes, beautiful music, and a wide range of evocative vignettes, will be on display in the intimate Studio Theater at RiverCenter today, April 26 at 2:00pm and 7:00pm.

Engineering marvels with an extraordinary quality of movement, these marionettes explore a range of emotions with precise action and endearing nuance.

Set to stunning music by such composers as Vivaldi, Strauss, Beethoven and Copland, the program provides an entertaining vision of human life through everyday situations for audiences of all ages.

Several of the scenes are silly or humorous, as when marionettes portray a young girl's misadventures as she attempts to concentrate on a homework assignment, or a battle between a pasture horse and a persistent dragonfly. Others are more meditative, such as the scene in which the tenderness between mother and infant is explored. In one touching scene, humanity is examined through the eyes of a homeless man.

Life in Motion is a powerful, entertaining, surprising, and theatrically satisfying!

Joseph Cashore has been performing full-time since 1990 across North America, Europe, and Asia. He has received numerous awards including a Pew Charitable Trusts' Fellowship for Performance Art, a Henson Foundation Grant, and a UNIMA (Union Internationale de la Marionnette-U.S.) Citation of Excellence, the highesthonor an American puppeteer can receive. UNIMA Citations are "awarded to shows that touch their audiences deeply; that totally engage, enchant and enthrall."

Tickets range from $15 - $23 and can be purchased online at www.rivercenter.org or in the Box Office, Monday - Friday, 10:00am - 5:30pm.
