Pinch n' Ouch Theatre Opens LET'S MAKE IT, 2/14
Pinch 'n' Ouch Theatre, one of Atlanta's most stimulating new theatre companies, will present the world premiere of "Let's Make It", a romantic drama by Atlanta notable Grant McGowen.
Grant McGowen, Pinch 'n' Ouch Theatre's founder and Artistic Director, is known foremost as a director and actor. He recently directed David Mamet's "Speed-the-Plow" and regional premieres "Lobby Hero" and "Bachelorette". He has also performed in a number of other productions including most recently Neil LaBute's "Some Girl(s)." "Let's Make It," will mark McGowen's first Atlanta credit as a playwright, although he has said to have written other plays, films, and even performed stand up.
A raw portrayal of modern day relationships, "Let's Make It" is about the beautiful emerging star actress, Anessa Hudson (Heather Rule), who is caught in a dilemma when her struggling filmmaker husband, Brandon (Barrett Doyle), decides to write a screenplay for her that resembles a darker unspoken past-one that she's not ready to confront.
Barrett Doyle will return to Pinch 'n' Ouch Theatre after performing in "Body Awareness", "Bachelorette", and "The Issues Plays." He once again plays across from Heather Rule who performed with him in Donald Margulies' "Misadventure," part of the "The Issues Plays." McGowen says on Doyle and Rule, "They have some of the best chemistry I've ever seen."
McGowen, who is often fond of darker edgier plays like "reasons to be pretty," says his play "Let's Make It" came out of the desire to ask important questions about love, faith, art, and business. "It's been the most heartfelt and relentless piece of writing I've yet to accomplish."
"Let's Make It" by Grant McGowen performs at Pinch 'n' Ouch Theatre February 14-March 2, 2013. Previews start February 7. For tickets: www.pnotheatre.org
