Aurora Theatre has assembled the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County in order to give parents and their children a chance to experience their artistry in our amazing facility in downtown Lawrenceville.
Autumn is in the air and Aurora Children's Playhouse October schedule reflects the fun associated with the Halloween season. On October 15, enjoy Aurora Learning Library's production of the American classic, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving, adapted for the stage by Kathryn Schultz Miller and directed by Jaclyn Hofmann, Aurora Theatre Director of Education. Unlike most Aurora Children's Playhouse events that are geared for pre-school through early elementary age children, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is recommended for 2nd grade and up. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow will bee seen on weekday mornings by thousands of local school children, do not miss the only public performance of this American classic perfect for the season. Superstitious schoolmaster Ichabod Crane must rely on superior wit against village brute Brom Bones in order to win the hand of the beautiful Katrina, the prettiest gal in Tarrytown. But like any great ghost story, Ichabod's own fears of the legendary Headless Horseman and of a so-called haunted bridge may get the better of him. Aurora Theatre brings these vivid characters of the 18th century to life in production featuring Atlanta actors, Tony Larkin, Kelly Criss and Vinnie Mascola. It's not necessarily magic, but Arthur Atsma has a way of making tickets disappear, therefore reservations are strongly recommended for this popular performance.
The Aurora Children's Playhouse series features: puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10AM unless otherwise noted.10/15/2011 10 AMVideos
