Aurora Theatre assembles the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County for the series Aurora Children's Playhouse. With the end of school near, this Saturday morning series features spectacular family entertainment for families with young children.

On May 4, celebrity children's author and singing storyteller Eric Litwin returns for his annual visit to Aurora Theatre. Get ready to sing, dance, laugh and fall in love with books. Mr. Eric's dynamic performances are fully interactive. He plays many instruments including the guitar and harmonica. Mr. Eric shares musical stories that inspire and delight the listener. He loves to perform and gives over a hundred performances every year. He has played at Lincoln Center as well as schools and libraries across the country. Children often come up on stage and sing. Mr. Eric will share Pete the Cat stories from his New York Times #1 Best-selling Pete the Cat book series. Due to the popularity of this performer there will be two shows on May 4 at 10 am and 11:30am, reservations are strongly recommended.

Look out! Little Red is ridin' into your 'hood and the Big Bad Wolf is working double-time in a twisted, tangle of tales as Aurora favorite "That Puppet Guy" Lee Bryan returns with his hilarious The Big Bad, Little Red, Pig Show on May 11. Two childhood favorites have been cleverly "squished" together with just one Big Bad Wolf to share in all the hilarious fun. Meet the trio of delightful little pigs including Hamlet, Miss Barb B. Que and their very famous cousin Kevin... Kevin Bacon! "That Puppet Guy" has huffed and puffed new life into this production through the use of rod puppets, hand puppets, clever music and an original script.

The weekend before the last week of school in Gwinnet County, Aurora sends children off to summer vacation in style with Music Makes a Splash, an interactive music program featuring Scott Douglas on May 18. Experience the joy of music and storytelling as the master musician marvels young audiences evoking the sounds of paradise with instruments like steel drums, African drums, didgeridoo, Native-American flutes, hammered dulcimer, accordion, Chinese drums and gongs, thunder drum and the waterphone. Children and even adults will be invited to participate on rattles, shakers, scrapers, cowbells, tuned bells and other sound makers as they virtually travel the world through rivers and oceans forming a Chinese music group, African drum ensemble, steel band and realistic sounding Amazon rainforest.

Aurora Children's Playhouse features the regions top children's performers, including: puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians. This unique programming is intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10AM unless otherwise noted.

Programming in Aurora Theatre's 2012-2013 Aurora Children's Playhouse is possible through generous support from Metro Waterproofing and the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund.
