Actress Haley Hudson, known for her role on the hit films "Freaky Friday," "Marley & Me" and others, is today helping launch a fund-raising campaign for a proposed horror-themed television pilot, "Queen Gorya."

"I'm very excited and proud to be part of such a unique project and to have the opportunity to play this character," she said.

"I truly believe that 'Queen Gorya' has the potential to be a hugely successful series that people will really enjoy. There's nothing out there quite like it."

The campaign is led by Hudson and actress Satu Runa, who is known for the film "The Coalition" and "Red Scream Vampyres."

"We're thrilled to have Haley bring her enthusiasm and talents to our effort. She's not only an accomplished actress, but a very giving and passionate person who puts a lot of energy into everything she does," Runa said.

The campaign, launched on the fund-rasing Web site Kickstarter.com is seeking $13,000 to fund the pilot for the series that would star Hudson as Jane Riley, a quirky college student who tries to encourage a former late-night horror movie host, Queen Gorya, played by Runa, to return to television.

Those interested in donating may access the Kickstarter site at http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/satu/queen-gorya-pilot-episode.

Merging the offbeat comedy of cult films like "Shaun of the Dead" with an iconic spooky profession, Queen Gorya "Temptress of Terror" brings back the fun and terror of vampires and the un-dead from films of years ago.

"We won't be meeting any teen-age vampires full of angst and self-hate. We'll have characters that remind us of those evil, legendary figures that scared us half to death in literature and classic films of long ago," Runa said.

"There is something exciting about characters like Dracula, for instance, which was based on an actual person. Queen Gorya taps into some of that excitement by delving into that world and creating unique and compelling characters."

Among the rewards for those donating to the campaign are an autographed, black-and-white lithograph of the cast, a walk-on role on the pilot episode, a high quality print of famed artist Adrian Barrios of Queen Gorya herself and more, including a special FX makeup session.

The team behind "Queen Gorya" includes executive producers Runa and graphic novelist Andrew Harrison, who also serves as creator/writer; editor Terry Kelley ("Homeland"), actors Steve J. Palmer ("House of Lies"), Dan Evans and JR Cruz.
