And finally, a Happy Birthday shout-out to Cicely Tyson, who turns 81 today!

Tyson won a Tony Award last year for her performance in The Trip to Bountiful, in which she went on to star in several regional productions and a TV movie adaptation. Among her other Broadway credits are The Corn Is Green, Trumpets of the Lord, Carry Me Back to Morningside Heights, A Hand is on the Gate, Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright, The Cool World and Jolly's Progress. The actress was nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for her performance in the film Sounder in 1972. She won two Emmys for The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman two years later. Tyson has also appeared on the big screen in Diary of a Mad Black Woman, The Help, and many more.
