Tucson Actor Stabbed Accidentally During Local Performance

According to Tuscon.com an actor was accidentally stabbed during a local production of of Gavin Kayner's THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS at the Temple of Music and Art's Cabaret Theatre in Tuscon, AZ.. The actor, Ken Beider, is recovering at home.

In the scene, Beider and another actor have an onstage, choreographed fight sequence. During the stage fight, Beider was stabbed in the stomach with a serrated knife. He finished the first act before the lights came up and an ambulance was called to the scene.

Paul Brunelle, who was working lights for the show, said "After the act, he took about 30 seconds to get up," said Brunelle. "When the lights went up, everyone was completely quiet." The audience gave Beider a rousing applause as he weakly walked off the stage and was transported to Banner University Medical Center.

Beider underwent surgery to confirm that there were no internal injuries. He recieved 12 staples and was sent home this past Monday June 1, 2015.

The remaining performances for The Language of Flowers have been canceled.
