The Zombies' Colin Blunstone Plays First Tour in U.S. in Over Forty Years

On The Air Tonight, released on January 21, 2014 on Zip Records, is the new album by Colin Blunstone, one of Britain's greatest vocal stylists. It's the tenth solo studio set in a career that in recent years has gained renewed momentum. From media, fans and fellow musicians alike, there's now fresh appreciation all over the world for Colin's work in his own name, as guest vocalist with countless other artists, and for his legacy with the legendary Zombies.

Blunstone's unmistakable voice has been at the forefront of the Zombies' hits "She's Not There," "Tell Her No" and "Time of the Season," and their classic album Odessey and Oracle, collaborations with the likes of Dave Stewart ("What Becomes of the Brokenhearted") and the Alan Parsons Project ("Old and Wise," among many other album appearances), and a solo catalogue containing such gems as "Say You Don't Mind," "I Don't Believe In Miracles," "Misty Roses," "How Could We Dare To Be Wrong" and "Levi Stubbs' Tears."

Rightly regarded as one of the most innovative British groups of the first wave of the British Invasion, the Zombies were reactivated by Colin and keyboard wizard Rod Argent for globally acclaimed records and tours, as they built up to the 50th anniversary of their formation in 2011. This fall will also be the 50th anniversary of the group's first worldwide hit, "She's Not There," a smash single in the year of the British Invasion, and still one of its most enduring classics.

After another period of glowingly-reviewed shows with the Zombies, the spotlight is set to shine on Colin again for On The Air Tonight. Produced by Jon Sweet and recorded at studios in Norfolk, Wales, West Sussex and Dorset, it's a collection of new compositions by Blunstone and other writers, seasoned with some well-chosen revivals. The UK's Record Collector Magazine said, "A starkly beautiful, piano-and-vocal revisiting of One Year's heart-crumbling 'Though You Are Far Away' makes leaves fall over the world."

In support of On The Air Tonight, Colin Blunstone will be on tour in the U.S. for two weeks in May, 2014. This will be the first U.S. tour for Blunstone in over forty years. Opening for Blunstone is Brit-born, New York-based, singer-songwriter, Edward Rogers. In 1999, Rogers was responsible for bringing Colin Blunstone to New York City for two dates at Fez. His new album, Kaye will be released on June 24, 2014 on Zip Records, and is inspired by and dedicated to the late Kevin Ayers. Rogers wrote all the songs, with the exception of Ayers' "After The Show," and cut every track live in the studio, with help from an impressive line-up of musicians, including James Mastro (Ian Hunter/The Bongos); Sal Maida (Roxy Music/Sparks/Cracker); Dennis Diken (The Smithereens); Joe McGinty (Psychedelic Furs/Losers Lounge); Don Fleming (Velvet Monkeys/Gumball); Gary Olson (Ladybug Transistor) and Pete Kennedy (The Kennedys). Kaye was produced by Don Piper (a don piper situation/Syd Straw). Mastro and Piper will back Rogers at these shows. Rogers also has a weekly radio show, Atlantic Tunnel, on EVR.com.
