Follow eight young men as they try to find their identity. Journey into this raw view of heart wrenching subjects in a time when the black youth are criminalized in the media; Thoughts of a COLORED MAN... will have you question your existence while personifying emotions as human beings.

Playwright & Director, Keenan M. Scott II is originally from the inner city of Queens, NY; but he moved to the suburbs of southern Maryland at an early age. Keenan got his start on the underground poetry scene in Washington, DC when he was fifteen, which led him to follow his new passion of performing and writing. He went on to attend Frostburg State University where he received a degree in Theater Arts with a concentration in acting. While studying theatre he discovered his new found love for playwriting and directing. With the use of poetry and prose style monologues using vernacular that was birthed from the Hip-Hop generation, Thoughts of a Colored Man...was pulled from his experiences living in the inner city and the suburbs to create a new voice for the twenty first century.

"Keenan M. Scott II is the new voice of young African American men! His ability to embrace the true issues which face today's men of color is unparalleled, breathtakingly original and imperative...this is a must read. NO; don't just read it, devour it. Soak it up every drop of truth until you are submersed in a kinetic energy of new vision which could only be created by him." - Chris McGriff, asst. director of The Color Purple on Broadway

"Keenan's 'Thoughts of a Colored Man' from the very beginning reels you into each character that personifies struggle via utilizing the black vernacular as a tour guide. Each layer of the onion is woven into a tapestry of the various interpersonal and social political challenges that plagues us all. Keenan takes hold of his cultural apparatus seamlessly from one stanza to the next and in artistic fashion makes the abstract concrete." - Bruce George, co-founder of Def Poetry Jam

"Keenan M. Scott II is a poet who makes plays. In the stories he tells...he makes intangibles tangible and the figurative literal. He pours big ideas and feelings and ideals and vices into the hearts, minds, and souls of his characters. Once they get talking, you can't help but remember what being human is all about: struggle and hope. Thoughts of a Colored Man on a day when the sun set too early, gives hope to anyone who feels like the sun sets too early every day." - John Cariani, Tony nominated actor/writer of ALMOST, MAINE
