Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Howard & Janet Kagan announced today that THE ANARCHIST, a new play written and directed by David Mamet starring Patti LuPone and Debra Winger, will be presented on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre (149 West 45th Street).

THE ANARCHIST, which marks the sixth collaboration between Richards, Frankel and Mamet, begins rehearsals on Monday, October 22nd, with previews beginning on Tuesday, November 13th and the official opening date set for Sunday, December 2nd.

Passion. Deception. Religion. Revolution. These thrilling topics and more are brought to light in the world premiere of this provocative two-hander by David Mamet. Two-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone, will go head-to-head with three-time Oscar nominee Debra Winger, as two powerful women forced to engage in a cage match of wits. Mamet, who brought a fierce sense of pace and entertainment to the direction of his own Race, will be at the helm of this theatrical event.

From Evita to Gypsy, Patti LuPone is a true Broadway legend with an extensive history with David Mamet on both stage and screen, including Heist, State and Main and The Old Neighborhood. Celebrated for her critically-acclaimed work in An Officer and a Gentleman, Terms of Endearment, and Shadowlands, Debra Winger was most recently seen in the film Lola Versus, and on the hit HBO series, “In Treatment.” This rare stage appearance marks the Broadway debut for this celebrated actress.
