Ever wonder how the most performed high school musicals and plays have changed over the years? So has NPR. Elissa Nadworny recently did performed a study of trends on what is performed most on high school stages across the country, and how those trends have differed from decade to decade. On how she did it, she writes:

In a spreadsheet, we compiled separate lists of the plays and musicals listed inDramatics' annual survey. Because of inconsistencies in the lists over time (some years included the number of schools while others listed only a rank), we scored shows according to their rank in a given year: 15 points to the number one show, 14 points to the second, and so on.

Top performed plays in this decade incude:

1. Almost, Maine
2. A Midsumemr Night's Dream
3. Our Town
4. You Can't Take It With You
5. Twelve Angry Jurors
6. The Crucible

Top performed musicals include:

1. Beauty and the Beast
2. Into the Woods
3. Grease
4. The Wizard of Oz
5. Seussical
6. Little Shop of Horrors
