Storm Theatre Company and Blackfriars Rep Bring OUR GOD'S BROTHER Off-Broadway, Now thru 5/3

The Storm Theatre Company in association with Blackfriars Repertory Theatre announce that the play Our God's Brother by Karol Wojtyla will be their next production at the Storm Theatre, 114th Street and Morningside Drive (in the Theatre of the Church of Notre Dame). Performances will begin tonight, April 4th and will the limited engagement will run through May 3rd. Opening is set for April 12th.

Karol Wojtyla was a young Polish seminarian who, at 21 during WWII, became a co-founder of the underground Rhapsodic Theatre. Our God's Brother was written during this time. His other play, "The Jeweler's Shop" was made into a film with Burt Lancaster in 1989. In 1978, Wojtyla was elected Pope John Paul II and is due to be canonized on April 27th, 2014.

Our God's Brother: An aristocrat turned revolutionary escapes from the Czarist authorities to find his calling as a critically acclaimed painter. But he cannot ignore what everyone around him fails to see. He years to reach a higher calling only to be soundly rejected. Rebellion is brewing, but his far greater challenge is the struggle within himself.

The cast, under the direction of Peter Dobbins, includes Erin Beirnard, Matthew Leiff Christian, Joe Danbusky, Susie Duecker, George Goss, Sawyer Mastrandrea, Joseph McGranaghan, Cliff Miller, Maury Miller and Jed Peterson. Scenic design is by Josh Iacovelli; costumes by Courtney Izirzarry; lighting design by Michael Abrams and sound design by Alex Santullo.

Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 pm and matinees on Saturday at 2:00 pm. There will be added performance on Monday, April 7th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are priced at $25.00 and are available through www.smarttixs.com.
