Salgado Productions is excited to be supporting latino writer Carlos Mendoza in the developing stages of "Valencia" a new full-length musical.

This first staged reading will be presented at the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater as part of the 2013 Playwrights Unit Festival of Readings and Insight Series. The purpose of these readings are to focus on the playwrights and their work, Salgado Productions has come on board to support and celebrate this idea.

Salgado Productions is committed to the growth of individuals that are developing their work for the first time, aligned with the mission of producing Art with a Purpose through a nurturing and collaborative creative process. Some of the most recent Salgado Productions productions include Candela: Fuerza y Pasion with original music by Ernesto Hermosa and Amigo Duende, music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Joshua Henry.

Director/Choreographer Luis Salgado will direct the reading as well as produce the show as it evolves. Broadway's In The Heights cast members Blanca Camacho, Doreen Montalvo and Ruben Flores are part of the cast that bring life to the very human characters of this compelling story of a loving elderly home, Valencia.

"Valencia is the story of a group of senior citizens living in the South Bronx who learn that their senior home is being closed due to economic cutbacks. To save Valencia, the seniors decide to raise funds by hosting a telethon. In the process, they show their passion and zest for life." said Carlos Mendoza.

The full cast includes Natalia Arias, Blanca Camacho, Venessa Diaz, Ruben Flores, Javier Gomez, Luis Alberto Gonzalez, Doreen Montalvo, Michael Moss, Antone Pagan and Rick Reid and will present four numbers from it's score with Musical Direction by Drew Wutke. Heather Hogan from Salgado Productions serves as associate producer/Stage Manager for the piece.

"As a storyteller, my passion is to share my stories. Salgado Productions has opened the door, pulled up a chair and let me be heard. When Luis gets involved in a project he puts his all into it. It is such a blessing and a pleasure to work with someone who is such a consummate professional," concludEd Carlos Mendoza (Playwright).

Valencia will have one presentation open to the public free of charge on May 6th at 7p at The Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre (304 W. 47th St.). To reserve email: tickets@salgadoproductions.com. For more information about the piece and Salgado Productions visit: www.salgadoproductions.com.
