Rock Ballet THE MASQUE: THE STORIES OF EDGAR ALLEN POE to Play Breen Center, 11/8

Verb Ballets and Shadowbox Live of Columbus present the world premiere of an original full length rock ballet, The Masque: The Stories of Edgar Allan Poe, at The Breen Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 8PM. This collaborative effort blends Verb Ballets and Shadowbox Live's contemporary and rock-and-roll sensibilities on stage for a world premiere work.

The original score, written by the musicians of Shadowbox band 'Light', will be performed live with the dancers. The percussive, driving rock is intertwined with melodies from Beethoven, Schoenberg, Ruggles and Ives. This new ballet, choreographed by the Associate Director, Richard Dickinson and dancers of Verb Ballets, tells the tale of Poe's The Masque of the Red Death. In full punk regalia it moves from room to room within the castle, additional stories are unveiled. Poe, portrayed byShadowbox Live's Tom Cardinal, will guide guests through the ballet as our story unfolds with revelry while the world outside sinks into chaos.
