Mo Brady and Nikka Graff Lanzarone announce the release of The Ensemblist's 36th episode: "RENT Retrospective"

On this latest episode of The Ensemblist, Nikka and Mo interview two performers and a creative team member who got to partake in Jonathan Larson's musical that defied the traditional Broadway sound and sparked the interest of performers and audience members across the world: Rent. Robin De Jesus, Tracy McDowell, and Tim Weil provide insight to the various stages of Rent from its pre-Broadway run at New York Theatre Workshop to its final performance on Broadway. Having worked on the Broadway production of Rent at different times, each of these guests share the highlights of their memories with the show and how being part of the Rent family is something to treasure forever. "Measure your life in love."

De Jesus (La Cage aux Folles, In The Heights, Rent) made his Broadway debut in Rent, and he explains how being part of the show taught him that what happens onstage in not just about the actors but also how it impacts the audience members. McDowell (Motown, Rent) started her journey with the show on the national tour and continued on with the show to make her Broadway debut in Rent, too; she discusses her thrilling and fast-paced rehearsal process for her debut. Weil (Lady Day at Emerson's Bar & Grill, Shrek the Musical, Jumpers, Rent, Sally Marr...and Her Escorts) worked with Larson during the musical's workshop stages, where he aided the production as a musical arranger and conductor, amongst other responsibilities as the show continued to Broadway.
