Rita Moreno, Ann-Margret & Julian Sands Join Cast of SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS

The Village Voice's Michael Musto reports that Ann-Margret, Rita Moreno and Julian Sands have joined the cast of the upcoming film SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS. The actors will join previously announced cast members Cheyenne Jackson and Gena Rowlands. According to the report, the trio are on their way to Budapest where the film is currently under production.

Musto reports that Ann-Margret and Moreno will portray dance students of Jackson's character, while Julian Sands will take on the role of Jackson's former mentor and friend.

The film, directed by Allan Seidelman, follows an elderly woman (Rowlands) who hires a much younger - and much more energetic - dance instructor (Jackson) to give her one-on-one lessons for six weeks. Throughout the weeks and lessons, they develop an intimate friendship, putting aside their differences, and opening up to each other.

The story is based on Richard Alfieri's play, which opened on Broadway in 2003 and has since received productions in 20 countries, becoming a regional and international hit with audiences.

Rita Moreno is one of the few artists to win an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, Moreno has been breaking down barriers and blazing trails for more than 50 years. From her Oscar-winning turn as Anita in West Side Story to her challenging role as a prostitute in Carnal Knowledge, from her stint on the children's television classic "Electric Company" to her late-career triumph in HBO's controversial series "Oz."

Ann-Margret became famous for her starring roles in Bye Bye Birdie, Viva Las Vegas, The Cincinnati Kid, Carnal Knowledge, and Tommy. Her later career includes character roles in Grumpy Old Men, Any Given Sunday, The Santa Clause 3, and The Break-Up.

Her stage credits include: Love Letters, with Burt Reynolds and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.

She has won five Golden Globe Awards and been nominated for two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and six Emmy Awards. On August 21, 2010, she won her first Emmy Award for her guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU.

Julian Sands is known for his roles in such films as The Killing Fields (a Best Picture nominee), A Room with a View, Warlock (a cult film), Arachnophobia, and Vatel-and for his roles in television series, such as Vladimir Bierko in 24 and Jor-El in Smallville.
