Repertory Dance Theatre's "Ring Around the Rose" program welcomes back the talented artists from the Africa Heartwood Project and Djembe Direct to bring you AFRICAN DRUMS today, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 am.

Join Andy Jones from Djembe Direct and the African Heartwood Project and his large collection of drums to play, beat, and learn about African drumming and dancing. Audience members are invited on stage to experience the sound and feel of dozens of different drums. Then, try their hand at the cultural dancing styles of West Africa. This show is the most "hands-on" show of the year as the audience is involved right from the curtain call.

Africa Heartwood Project and Djembe Direct work with African drum carvers to sustain their livlihoods by providing training, micro-credit, and markets for hand crafted djembes and other drums. Andy Jones has been teaching, performing and selling drums directly from Africa for over a decade. His experience and the interactive nature of this show makes it one of the most popular on the season.
