Photo Coverage: Sardi's Honors LOMBARDI's Judith Light with Caricature
Judith Light has received rave reviews for her performance as Marie Lombardi opposite Dan Lauria as the legendary football coach Vince Lombardi in the new Broadway play LOMBARDI. In honor of her performance and career, Light was presented with her Sardi's caricature yesterday, February 10. Lauria's Sardi's caricature was also brought out for the occasion. Judith Light's other New York credits include Athol Fugard's Sorrows and Rejoicings, Colder Than Here, and Wit. She began her theatrical career in productions including Broadway's A Doll's House and Herzl and in the NY Shakespeare Festival's Measure for Measure. The recipient of two Emmys, two Soapy awards and a Soap Opera Hall of Fame Award , she is perhaps best known for her roles on "Who's the Boss?," "Ugly Betty" and "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
Directed by Tony Award nominee Thomas Kail, LOMBARDI is an original play written by Academy Award winner Eric Simonson and based on the best-selling biography When Pride Still Mattered: A Life of Vince Lombardi, by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss. Joining producers Tony Ponturo and Fran Kirmser as special producing partner is the National Football League, marking the organization's first foray on Broadway. The cast also features Keith Nobbs as Michael McCormick, Bill Dawes as Paul Hornung, Robert Christopher Riley as Dave Robinson and Chris Sullivan as Jim Taylor.
