For one night only on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30pm, Broadway legend Patti LuPone will perform in her critically-acclaimed concert, Far Away Places, conceived and directed by Scott Wittman with musical arrangements by Joseph Thalken at Pace University's Schimmel Center. A Broadway superstar for more than 30 years, Ms. LuPone is a two-time Tony Winner (Best performance by a leading actress) for Evita and Gypsy; an Olivier recipient (for her performance in London's LES MISERABLES); and a two-time Grammy winner (Best Classical recording and Best Opera recording for Rise and Fall of Mahagonny). She takes us on a musical journey with thrilling renditions of songs by an eclectic list of songwriters, including Stephen Sondheim, Cole Porter, Willie Nelson, Kurt Weill, Edith Piaf, Frederick Hollander, and, even The BeeGees.

After seeing Ms. LuPone's Far Away Places, Stephen Holden of the New York Times heralded, "She generates more raw excitement than any other performer on the Broadway and cabaret axis." He exclaimed that the show was "brilliant", adding that Far Away Places "certified her place in the lineage of quirky international chanteuses like Lotte Lenya, Marlene Dietrich and Edith Piaf, who, like Ms. LuPone, conquered show business with forceful, outsize personalities while playing by their own rules."

Far Away Places premiered to rave reviews at 54 Below, in a cabaret setting, and now the theatrical legend will be bringing renowned concert to the Schimmel Center, Pace University's intimate proscenium theater. It is expected that this combination of LuPone and a traditional theater will add even more fireworks to this high octane evening.

Patti LuPone will return to the New York stage this summer in Douglas Carter Beane's new play Shows for Days, under the direction of Jerry Zaks, for Lincoln Center Theater. One of her last Broadway appearances was in the Lincoln Center Theater's production of the new musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, for which she was nominated for Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Other recent New York stage appearances include her debut with the New York City Ballet as "Anna 1" in their new production of The Seven Deadly Sins and her performance as "Joanne" in the New York Philharmonic's production of Company.

Ticket prices for Patti LuPone performing Far Away Places at Schimmel Center range from $79-$119. The performance will take place on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30pm.
