PAINTED ON WATER Kicks Off North American Tour in Chicago, 3/15

After two successful CD releases and sold-out U.S. debut shows, internationally acclaimed pop rock band PAINTED ON WATER announced today they will kick off their 2014 North American Tour at Chicago's Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N Lincoln Avenue on Saturday, March 15 at 7 p.m. This engagement will be followed by performances at Toronto's Mod Club Theater at 722 College St. on Sunday, March 16 at 8 p.m., Washington DC's Tropicalila at 2001 14th NW on Thursday, March 20 at 8 p.m., New York City's Drom at 85 Avenue A on Friday, March 21 at 8 p.m., and Boston's Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club at 17 Holland Street on Sunday, March 23 at 8 p.m. The tour will promote the band's upcoming album, to be released this spring.

The Chicago-based band is comprised of songwriter, vocalist and instrumentalist Demir Demirkan and songwriter and vocalist Sertab Erener, as well as guest artists who will perform with the group on tour. Turkey's first and only winners of the Eurovision Song Contest, Demirkan and Erener's unique style combines lyrics inspired by Shakespeare with the melodies of pop, rock, electronica and Turkish folk music to create a unique musical experience. The New York Daily News raves that the band infuses "...traditional tunes from their birth country, but kick them up with rock guitars, jazz inflections, and a bit of pop polish!" and Cape Cod Online calls PAINTED ON WATER'S sound a "...beautiful, incredibly sensuous mix of pop and jazz with world music undertones that proves to be wonderfully intoxicating."

To engage the senses of their audience, visuals of an Ebru artist performing the intricate Turkish art of paper marbling appears while the band's music plays. The incorporation of this beautiful art form is an essential element to everyPAINTED ON WATER concert.
