Sally Six String, an original play with music, is set to open at CAP21 on Saturday June 4th and run through Sunday June 5th. The cast features 20 up and coming teen and tween actors from the NYC, CT, NJ, PA area and also boasts a small adult cast of 5 talented, veteran actors.

Sally Six String was developed through improvisation and real interaction amongst the cast, discussing themes of social media and technology, assessing its pros and cons in our fast-paced, digitally-driven world. We explore how technology has helped us and hindered us in areas of communication, love, safety, health and family.

The style of the play is much like several beloved films where all of the characters somehow intertwine with one another and overlap their stories and relationships throughout the different scenes. Written and directed by Brooke Procida Ricthie (Reddi High, Broadway:Next Generation) the characters look for ways to connect with one another and the world and often struggle with the responsibility of having true, human interactions when its so much easier to pick up a device.

The audience is brought into the world of the play by Beck and Sooze, our two radio-show hosts who tackle issues live on-air, taking calls from teens and tweens seeking peer-based advice.

Our heroine, Sally, is a guitar playing poet who refuses to let social media take over her life and would rather sit in the park and create music. Caught in a love triangle with nice-guy Finn and smart-alec Trent, Sally explores ways to stay true to herself without missing out on life.

The Pop Girls and Broadway Divas give us a glimpse into the lives of kids trying to get noticed and make something of their talent. We explore how social media platforms like youtube have helped so many artists get their name out there and how twitter and instagram can build you up and also bring you down.

Hugo, our cherished science-loving geek, reminds us that everything is all laid out for us above while shy and gifted Megan finds ways through dance and human connection to unleash her voice.

The adult characters in our show struggle with the exact same issues and we see their actions and words reflected in our younger casts behaviour, desires and experiences.

NOT a musical, the show is laden with small bits of original pieces of pop, punk, indie, R and B and rock music, all delivered in a natural style by the cast. If you are looking for sequins and kick-lines, this is not the show for you!

The SALLY SIX STRING YOUTBE CHANNEL will feature several playlists: Beck and Sooze and Sosh News, Music Videos, The Pop Girls and the Broadway Divas. Please be sure to find us at SALLY SIX STRING YOUTUBE
