Ever wanted to visit 'Bunga bunga land' where girls are always sweet, the weather is consistently hot, where you lose your head if you say no?

Opera at Home brings to Herne Hill Festival a surreal version of 'The abduction from the Seraglio' by W.A. Mozart; 100 minutes of hilarious comic opera spiced up with some of the most virtuosic arias ever written. Opera at Home's rendition is set in nightmarish "Bunga bunga land" a place made out of dictators' most ridiculous fantasies.

Constanza and her servant Blonda are kidnapped in foreign territory and must resist the sexual and romantic advances of Pasha Selim and his harem guard Osim. The opera develops with a delirious twist as their counterparts Belmonte and Pedrillo set out to rescue them. Freedom, the control over women's sexualities and the tyranny of love appear as recurrent themes through the opera, with a delightful surprise ending full of Mozart's joyous enlightenment.
