New York City Center's FREE DanceTalks, held in conjunction with the acclaimed Fall for Dance Festival, features dance artists and experts discussing current topics in the dance world. DanceTalk begins on Friday, October 1 with "How Does Culture Influence Performance?" and continues on Thursday, October 7 with "Movement and Image: How do Choreographers Use Visuals to Enhance Their Work?" The panelists are affiliated with the companies performing in the festival.

The DanceTalk schedule is as follows:

Friday, October 1 at 6:30 p.m.

New York City Center and the Barnard College Department of Dance present:
How Does Culture Influence Performance?

Panelists: Ronald K. Brown, artistic director of Evidence, A Dance Company; Rafaela Carrasco, artistic director of Company Rafaela Carrasco; Shu-Yi Chou, artistic director of Shu-Yi & (Dancers) Company; and Sonia Destri, artistic director of Companhia Urbana de Dança. Moderator: John Rockwell, former dance and music critic, The New York Times; former director Lincoln Center Festival.

Thursday, October 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Movement and Image: How do Choreographers Use Visuals to Enhance Their Work?

Panelists: Nancy Dalva, producer of Mondays with Merce; Russell Maliphant, artistic director of Russell Maliphant Company; Tero Saarinen, artistic director of Tero Saarinen Company; Janet Wong, associate artistic director of Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. Moderator: Deborah Jowitt, Village Voice dance critic

New York City Center's seventh annual Fall for Dance Festival, running September 28 - October 9, will feature 20 companies in 10 nights of dance, with all tickets once again priced at only $10. The lineup includes world and U.S. premieres, as well as a wide variety of dance styles and traditions ranging from contemporary dance and classical ballet to Odissi, tap and hip hop. The festival's five programs will run for two nights each.
