Playwright, Suzanne Mernyk, will produce and direct her new play, Serenade in C, for the upcoming Manhattan Repertory Theatre's Stagecraft Festival in NYC, October 30th @7pm, November 1st @7pm, November 3rd @ 6pm.

Inspired by her own treatment for breast cancer in 2009, she noticed the parallels between cancer, a terrorist of the body and global terrorism, a true cancer of the human spirit. This drama explores the similarities and effects of both, on the body and soul. A musical theme is punctuated by the observations of six characters' voices, propelling each of their own personal stories forward.

The talented cast includes Denise Collins, Lois Dilivio, Donald Juhlin, Tyler Rackliffe, Tomovich Selassie and Hannah Tinker; as well as production support from Delaney Smeal, Assistant Director and Ed Cara, Technical Director.

In her creative life, Suzanne is a playwright, actor, classical musician, and stand-up comic. She facilitates a playwriting workshop, Characters, Ink., in Manhattan and studied the craft at The Workshop at The Neighborhood Playhouse with Mary Humphrey Baldridge, as well as at NYU. Her plays have been produced at Theatre 68, Curtain Call, The Neighborhood Playhouse, The Sam French Festival and the Quick Center for the Arts, among others. For more information about her personal journey with cancer, please visit, (http://www.greenhosp.org/upload/docs/News/HE-Sept-Oct-2013_8_13.pdf).

The show is produced in collaboration with the John Doe Theatre Company, a group of actors, artists and writers who have banded together to create new works, live entertainment, and theater. Look for them on Facebook and watch them shape-shift with each new theatrical offering.
