New Musical 'Alexander Who's Not Not Not Not Not Not Going To Move'

A bright, fun-filled musical adaptation of a family favorite

Orlando Shakespeare Theater in Partnership with UCF continues its 2010-2011 Bright House Theater for Young Audiences Series with a musical adaptation of Judith Viorst's colorful children's book, Alexander Who's Not Not Not Not Not Not Going to Move, playing at the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center from March 31 - April 24, 2011. 

Alexander Who's Not... Going to Move features the same Alexander who once had a "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day." This time around, he has just learned some really bad news from his parents. His dad has taken a job in a city far away, which means he is going to have to move away from all his friends and all the things he loves. Alexander already knows he'll hate it, so he decides that he just won't move. This upbeat family musical carries the message that home is "where you're with the people who love you best of all." 

"Alexander Who's Not... Going to Move uses fun songs to tell a story we can all relate to: How do you move when it means leaving all your friends?" says director Anne Hering. "Learning that ‘home' is more than a house or neighborhood is at the heart of this warm and funny show." 

The six-person ensemble cast includes Mason D. Criswell (Alexander), Brooke M. Haney (Nick/Albert), Christopher Kiley (Anthony), Tony Dietterick (Father), Kristin Shirilla (Paul/Swoozie), and Pascha Weaver (Mother). The creative team for this musical romp includes Anne Hering, director; Chris Leavy, music director; Robbin Watts, scenic designer; Mel Barger, costume designer; Mary Heffernan, lighting designer; Mick O'Neill, stage manager; and Britt Sandusky, sound designer.

Three Interactive Story Times: Meet the cast of Alexander, Who's Not ... Going to Move, as part of an interactive story time. Everyone attending will have a chance to win free tickets to attend a performance of Alexander at Orlando Shakespeare Theater.

Tickets are available by calling 407-447-1700 or online at http://orlandoshakes.org/ and in person at the box office located inside the Lowndes Shakespeare Center, 812 East Rollins Street in Orlando's Loch Haven Cultural Park. Box Office hours are 12pm to show time, Tuesday-Saturday, and one hour prior to show time on Sundays for walk up sales. On non-performance days, the Box Office closes at 5pm. The Box Office is closed on Mondays.
