In Nothing Like a Dame, theater journalist Eddie Shapiro opens a box full of knowledge, through in-depth conversations with twenty leading women of Broadway. The new book will be released on Febuary 7th, 2014.

Shapiro carefully selected Tony Award-winning stars who have spent the majority of their careers in theater, including Audra McDonald on her Tony success, Chita Rivera on her success in being in a musical per decade for the last seven decades, and Sutton Foster on how rare it is to be so successful in being a predominantly theatre actress.

He interviewed others, including: Elaine Stritch, Carol Channing, Donna McKechnie, Angela Lansbury, Leslie Uggams, Judy Kaye, Betty Buckley, Patti LuPone, Bebe Neuwirth, Donna Murphy, Lillias White, Karen Ziemba, Debra Monk, Victoria Clark, Audra McDonald, Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Sutton Foster
and Laura Benanti.

The women he interviewed discussed their careers, offered looks into the iconic shows they appeared in, changes on Broadway over the last century, and the art (and thrill) of taking the stage night after night.E ach of these conversations is guided by Shapiro's expert knowledge of these women's careers, and the details of famous (and infamous) musicals.
