Atalla Ayan will sing in the Met's Summer Recital Series this evening at Central Park SummerStage, replacing Dimitri Pittas, who is ill.
Atalla Ayan, a former member of the Met's Lindemann Young Artist Development Program, sings his first performance with the Met in tonight's recital. In 2011-12, he will sing Rodolfo in La Bohème with Glyndebourne on Tour and begin a three-year association with the Stuttgart State Opera, where he will appear as Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Alfred in Die Fledermaus and Rodolfo in a new production of La Bohème.Ayan joins soprano Angela Meade, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Johnson Cano, and pianist Bradley Moore in tonight's recital of opera arias and ensembles, which begins at 8:00 p.m. Bass-baritone Eric Owens will host the event.
