They're a hilarious group of professional male dancers performing in lavish female costumes and they're taking over the world with their comic adaptations of traditional ballet art. They are Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, lovingly referred to as "The Trocks," and they're performing legendary female roles from their ballet repertoire at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center on Sunday, July 7 at 8:30pm. Tickets are $55 - $85 and can be purchased online at www.whbpac.org.

Delicately balancing on point as swans, princesses, water sprites, and angst-ridden Victorian ladies, these playful ballerinas are indeed...MEN! Inspired by their loving knowledge of dance, their comic approach, and the astounding fact that men can, indeed, dance en pointe without falling flat on their faces, these professional male dancers perform the full range of the ballet and modern dance repertoire, in faithful renditions of the manners and conceits of those dance styles. The comedy is achieved by incorporating and exaggerating the foibles, accidents, and underlying incongruities of serious dance.

The group has performed in over 500 cities around the world. The tempo of numerous tours of the group is unbelievable. A year schedule of TROCKADEROS can easily be named insane: 5 tours in Australia and New Zealand, 19 in Japan (where as a result of annual summer tours many countrywide fan clubs were formed), 8 in South America, 3 in South Africa and 40 tours in Europe. In USA the group performs regularly in cities of 48 out of 50 states.

The group pursues charities for international organizations helping people with AIDS, such as DRA (Dancers Responding to AIDS), Classical Action (New York), Life Ball (Vienna), Dancers for Life (Toronto, Canada) and Stonewall Gala (London). TROCKS also give the profit from some of their performances to Rochester City Ballet, Connecticut Ballet Theater and Centre for Gays and Lesbians (New York).

Audiences of all ages will be delighted and amused as this all-male group of ballet professionals unleashes perfectly timed comedy that pokes fun at the rigidity of serious dance.
