Guthrie Theater to Celebrate the Life of Beloved Actor Richard S. Iglewski

The Guthrie Theater today announced it will host a public celebration of the life and work of former Guthrie actor Richard S. Iglewski, who passed away in January. The memorial service will be held Monday, March 13 at 4:30 p.m. on the Wurtele Thrust Stage, with a reception to follow.

The Guthrie invites family, friends, acquaintances and patrons to share fond memories of Julio by e-mailing rememberingjulio@guthrietheater.org. These remembrances may be shared or displayed during the service.

Known as Julio to close friends, Iglewski performed in more than 85 productions since 1985 including A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Home Place, Hamlet, Oedipus, The Pirates of Penzance, Gross Indecency, A Doll's House, K, The Tempest and The Man Who Came to Dinner. In 1999, Iglewski was honored with the Artistic Director's Award.

In a recent Star Tribune article, former Guthrie Artistic Director Joe Dowling stated "He [Iglewski] was one of the most accomplished actors I have ever worked with. Julio was a completely instinctive actor who responded to his character with complete personal identity and conviction."
