Eric Wert

On a dark surface amid splayed flowers, tiny droplets of water reflect fluffy red petals from a toppled vase of peonies. Eric Wert is one of the young, masterful artists of our time modernizing classical subjects with verve. His genius lies in rendering anatomically complex flora, textiles, silks and cloth. In PEONIES MIDNIGHT he expertly imbues a brilliance and harmony of color among the twisted flowers and stone tabletop. Decidedly ambitious, his energetic works often communicate a nouveau-baroque aesthetic, where every surface is involved and intricately patterned.

Eric Wert received an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from the Art Institute of Chicago and his Master of Fine Arts Degree from Northwestern University.
