The Franklin Performing Arts Company (FPAC) will present Opera for Kids on March 27th at 3:00 p.m. in the Recital Hall at the Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA). This special program is the third concert in FPAC's Family Concert Series and is free and open to the public.
In Opera for Kids, the classic Dr. Seuss tales Green Eggs and Ham and Gertrude McFuzz will take a new form when they are staged as one-act operas! Classical vocalists and FSPA Instructors of Voice Shauna Martin and Mariko Matsumura and pianist Scott Nicholas will lead this concert, which will also feature young student singers. Opera for Kids and all FPAC Family Concerts are especially geared toward young children in length and format.
With more than twenty years of teaching experience, Shauna has been a member of the FSPA Music Faculty since 2006. She holds a Master of Music Degree in Opera from University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Music Degree from Brandon University. Martin's performances include a wide variety of operatic and musical theater roles, in works by classical as well as contemporary composers. She is a proud founding member of the humorous and popular children's show Opera Night in Canada.
The Franklin Performing Arts Company was founded in 1991 and is dedicated to the promotion of the performing arts, with a focus on live music and commitment to youth development. A distinctive suburban non-profit arts organization, FPAC presents quality performances while offering opportunities for professional artists, amateurs, families and students of the arts to work together in a collaborative and creative environment.
