Florida Rep's THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES Now Playing

Florida Repertory Theatre has announced the opening of The Hound of the Baskervilles, a new farce where NOTHING is elementary and three actors take on countless characters as they try to solve the classic mystery.

Now playing through Mar. 5 in the Historic Arcade Theatre, Hound crosses the pond after taking London by storm, and was hailed as "a wonderfully barking spoof!"

"If you loved The 39 Steps, an hilarious send up of all the Hitchcock classics, then you'll love this treatment of the beloved Sherlock Holmes mystery," said Producing Artistic Director, Robert Cacioppo.

In The Hound of the Baskervilles, written by Arthur Conan Doyle and adapted for the stage by Steven Canny and John Nicholson, the male heirs of the Baskerville family are being knocked off one-by-one-and a very large canine is the leading suspect. With only one heir to the Baskerville fortune left, Sir Henry Baskerville, Holmes and Watson may have met their match. This zany adaptation of the classic story follows three members of a theatre troupe haplessly trying to put on their play against all odds. Audiences will be treated to three actors racing about the stage playing all the roles, fast costume changes, and a good mystery to solve.

The production features Jason Parrish, Michael Satow, and Wynn Harmon. Mr. Parrish is a Florida Rep ensemble member known for his work in Florida Rep's annual production of The Santaland Diaries, and recent appearances in Miracle on South Division Street, and the nationally acclaimed Arsenic and Old Lace. New York based actor, Michael Satow, makes his third appearance with Florida Rep in Hound, after having been seen in Lend Me a Tenor and as Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace. Making his Florida Rep debut is Wynn Harmon, a New York actor whose work has been seen at theatres across the country, as well as on Broadway in the 2012 production of The Gershwin's Porgy and Bess.

The production is directed by Mark Shanahan, whose work as an actor and director has been seen on Broadway (The 39 Steps and across the country at some of the nations finest regional theatre companies, including the Houston's Alley Theatre, George Street Playhouse (New Jersey), Cape Playhouse (Massachusetts), Weston Playhouse (Vermont), Westport Country Playhouse (Connecticut), Penguin Rep (New York), and many others.

Mr. Shanahan is joined by an expert team of Florida Rep ensemble designers including set designer, Robert F. Wolin (Educating Rita), lighting designer, Matthew McCarthy (The Fantasticks), and production stage manager, Karen Oberthal (The Last Romance.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles adapted by Steven Canny and John Nicholson plays at Florida Rep Fab. 14 to March 5 with four sold-out previews on Feb. 11-13 in the Historic Arcade Theatre. Regular performances are Tues. - Sat. at 8pm, with matinees on Wed., Sun., and selected Saturdays at 2pm.
