The New York Post's Michael Riedel reports that Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is about to announce that a revival of his record-breaking musical CATS is heading to Broadway next spring. According to the Post theater columnist, an ad for CATS will run during Sunday's telecast of the 2015 TONY AWARDS.

Nicole Scherzinger recently made her West End stage debut as Grizabella in a revival of the musical. The show returned to the West End for a strictly limited run at the London Palladium. Based on T. S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, the original creative team - Director Trevor Nunn, Associate Director and Choreographer Gillian Lynne, Designer John Napier and Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber reunited on the production.

Directed by Trevor Nunn and choreographed by Gillian Lynne, Cats first opened in the West End in 1981 and then with the same creative team on Broadway in 1982. It won numerous awards, including Best Musical at both the Laurence Olivier Awards and the Tony Awards. The London production ran for twenty-one years and the Broadway production ran for eighteen years, both setting new records.

As of 2015, Cats is the third longest-running show in Broadway history, and was the longest running Broadway show in history from 1987-2006, surpassed by The Phantom of the Opera. Cats is the fourth longest-running West End musical. It has been performed around the world many times and has been translated into more than 20 languages. In 1998, Cats was turned into amade-for-television film.
