Felciano & Errico in 'Bloom,' New Musical Reading Nov.12

Tony nominees Manoel Felciano (Sweeney Todd, Trumpery) and Melissa Errico (Amour, My Fair Lady, Dracula) will star in a private reading of Bloom, a brand-new musical comedy, on November 12 at New York's Pearl Studios.

"Set in 17th century Holland during the legendary 'tulip craze,' Bloom follows the comic travails of hatmaker Paulus; his seemingly unattainable love, Emilia; and his best friend Theo, a rakish painter; all of whom reinvent themselves and realize success beyond their wildest dreams while descending hilariously into delusion and obsession," explains press notes.

Bloom's book, music and lyrics were written by Peter Foley, Kevin Mayes, Andy Siegel and Matthew Heimer. Peter Foley is the winner of the Richard Rodgers Award, the Jonathan Larson Foundation Award, and the Stephen Sondheim Award for his musical The Hidden Sky. Kevin Mayes, a 2007 Jeff Award nominee, composed the music for the original production of The Sisters Rosensweig.  Andy Siegel is the author of the play The Late Show and the one-man musical Jewish Boy Explodes.  Matthew Heimer is a journalist and magazine writer (Esquire, SmartMoney, The Wall Street Journal) whose lyrics have been featured in "Carols for A Cure 2007" and The Water Coolers.

In addition to Felciano and Errico, the reading co-stars Marya Grandy (Great American Trailer Park Musical, Les Miserables), and A&M recording artist Freedom Bremner (Moby's "At Least We Tried").  The cast will also feature Daniel Marcus (Urinetown, 1776), Asa Somers (Grey Gardens, Taboo), Jill Abramovitz (Fame Becomes Me), Doug Kreeger (Thrill Me, Les Miserables), Josh Olesker, and Julienne Walker.  Kevin Mayes will direct, Brett Rowe will musically direct, and Janine Sarna-Jones will stage-manage.
