Producer Allision Ferrier has announced the upcoming Off-Broadway production of BRANDT REITER's new drama END OF PLAY, which will begin performances on April 17th, 2009.

END OF PLAY is a thirteen-character drama about Theatre, Hollywood and the cost of dreams. When industry outcast Jack Wells abandons his NYU teaching post for Los Angeles to support his young girlfriend's fledgling career, he finds himself caught between the depth of her ambition and his own tarnished soul.

END OF PLAY will star MARK DOHERTY, JUSTINE COTSONAS, DEAN IMPERIAL, CONNOR FOX, ELI GANIAS, CAILIN MCDONALD, HILARY BETTIS, JACOB TROY, and CHRISTOPHER RANDOLPH.

Directed by DAVE McREE, the production will feature design by VLADIMIR SHPITALNIK (Set Design), HOLLY KO (Lighting Design), REBECCA WELLES (Costume Design), and ZAC JAFFE (Sound Design).

END OF PLAY begins performances at Center Stage NY (48 West 21st St.) on April 17th, 2009, will open on April 23rd, and is currently slated to run through May 10th.

Performance schedule: Thursday - Saturday @ 8pm. Sunday @ 7pm. Tickets are priced at $18, and can be purchased here.

BRANDT REITER (Playwright) has worked in stage, film and television in New York and Los Angeles. He was jazz critic at LA Weekly from 2000-2004; he has also written for Village Voice and All About Jazz New York. Brandt teaches Dramatic Literature and Acting at the University of New Haven, and Rhetoric and Composition at Bronx Community College. He is currently Vice Chair of Playwriting for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, Region I. MFA, Theatre (Directing & Playwriting), Sarah Lawrence College; BA, American Studies, Temple University; Certificate, Film Theory and Criticism, Sorbonne, Paris.

DAVE McREE (Director) was co-founder and artistic director for Jacksonville's A Company of Players. His work has included productions with The Actor's Outlet, Playwrights Horizons, Summerfest, and the Ensemble Studio Theatre. He has taught in the theatre program at Sarah Lawrence College since 1981.

MARK DOHERTY (Jack) is a versatile actor who has worked in film, television and theatre. Mark has appeared in many of the NYC based soaps including "As the World Turns", "One Life to Live" and "The Guiding Light". He recently had the opportunity to work opposite Jeff Goldblum on NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." This January Adam, a film Mark landed a huge supporting role in, premiered at Sundance with Peter Gallagher and Hugh Dancy. The film is set for theatrical release later this year.

JUSTINE COTSONAS (Kate) is best known for her role as the innocent-turned-schemer Sofie Duran on CBS's award-winning soap "As The World Turns", which she booked shortly after graduating from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Since then, she has completed several projects, including her latest feature film, Last Night, opposite Keira Knightley. In addition to theatre, TV, and film, she has worked with Oscar-winner Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; Be Kind, Rewind) on a national network commercial for Motorola.

DEAN IMPERIAL (Wayne) was born November 10th, 1976 in Orange, NJ. He currently lives in New York, NY.

CONNOR FOX (Brian, Ross) has played opposite Jude Law, Josh Gadd and Cillian Murphy as well as having been directed by Paul Sotter, John Fortenberry and Steve Zaillian to name a few. Connor recently shot two pilots, one for Comedy Central (Evan and Gareth) and one for FOX (Have You Slept With Me?) He has several feature films being released in '09 and is currently in pre-production on the films Sintax and Static, both scheduled to shoot this summer.


ELI GANIAS (Dean) most recently appeared in Raised by Lesbians by the late Leah Ryan as part of the 2008 NYC Fringe Festival, and as Don in Rounding Third at the Bickford Theater in Morristown, NJ. He was also an original cast member of Off-Broadway's Tony n' Tina's Wedding in New York (and also in Los Angeles) as Johnny, Tony's brother. Other theater; The Poetry of Pizza by Deborah Brevoort (The Women of Lockerbie) at Centenary Stage Company in Hackettstown, NJ; River Union Stage's production of The Little Prince in Stockton, NJ in the Delaware Valley; Lanford Wilson's The Hot L Baltimore with TACT (NYC); Middle of the Night with F. Murray Abraham (Actor's Legacy Group, NYC). Neil Simon's Last of the Red Hot Lovers (Access Theater, NYC); Fast Girls (What Exit? Company, Maplewood, NJ). CAILIN McDONALD (Lainie, Leigh) has been seen around town in Brit Bits (Mind the Gap), Star Power, Libretto (Algonquin), Flipper's Comeback (Word of Mouth), A Girl's Guide to Chaos (Reel Actors Productions), and Swim Short 3 (Impetuous Theater), among others. Her regional credits include Under Milk Wood, Proof, Blithe Spirit, Uncommon Women..., and Sweeney Todd. She's very proud to be "The Femident Girl" for "The Flight of the Conchords".


HILARY BETTIS (April) Recent credits include: Off-Broadway: Amanda in American Girls at 45th Street Theatrer, Maggie in Death in the Juniper Grove at 59E59 Off-Off-Broadway: Hermia in Midsummer Night's Dream at Seaport, Jennifer in First Date at Seaport, Ann in Aven'U Boys at Producer's Club Regional: Rebecca in Our Town with Emily Deschanel at Skirball Center in Los Angeles. Film: Sam in B'Hurst due out this Fall, Brooke in Bittersweet Lies, and Beth in The Violent Kind. National Commercials for Honda and Taco Bell and a TV pilot with Ryan Seacrest. Hilary is also a produced and published playwright and screenwriter. She wrote both B'Hurst and American Girls and is currently writing her second play titled Mexico. She has been published by Smith and Kraus. Hilary is a proud memeber of New River Dramatists, Dramatists Guild, SAG, and Actor's Equity.

JACOB TROY (Ted) Representative roles at such theatres as American Globe Theatre, Player's Theatre, Producer's Club, NY International Fringe Festival, Manhattan Reperatory, the Theatre at Monmouth, and on tour nationally with National Players include Cassio (Othello), Prince Florizel (The Winter's Tale), Prince Hal (Henry IV, Part I, reading), Prince Ferdinand (The Tempest), Ed the Cannibal (The Housewarming), Lucentio (Taming of the Shrew), Orlando (As You Like It), Soldier One (No Entrance, Dir. Sue Lawless). Jacob recently returned from Argentina where he starred in the upcoming feature film The Son of Tango Kid. He received a B.A. from Sarah Lawrence College.

CHRISTOPHER RANDOLPH (Timmy, Edward) Broadway: King Lear at Lincoln Center (with Christopher Plummer). Off-Broadway credits include Dash at MCC; Hollywood Scheherezade at Primary Stages; Clocks & Whistles with Origin; and The Survival of the Species at EST and The Beckett. Regional work includes Betrayal at The Old Globe; St. Joan at the Rep. Theatre of St. Louis; The Misanthrope at GeVa; The Revenge of the Space Pandas at Milwaukee Rep.; The Laramie Project at Chautauqua Conservatory Theatre; A Man's A Man and The Seagull at La Jolla Playhouse, and many others. At The Odyssey in Los Angeles he received a Dramalogue Award for his work in the world premiere of Angels Twice Descending, and was in the West Coast premiere of Terrence McNally's A Perfect Ganesh (8 LA DCC nominations). Film: Convention (directed by Ryan Fleck); Pumpkin Hell; and Renee Alberta's Dream Date. TV: "Will & Grace"; "Mad About You"; "Newsradio"; "Doogie Howser, MD"; and numerous Soaps. He is also the voice of the character Otacon in Konami's best selling Metal Gear Solid game series for Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo. He's studied in London and Japan, and holds an MFA in acting from UCSD.

VLADIMIR SHPITALNIK (Set Design) Set and costume designer, painter, and illustrator, Vladimir Shpitalnik's work has been seen across the United States, Europe, and in Asia. Shpitalnik's Off-Broadway credits include set design for Coming Through and Offerings at American Place Theatre and set and costume design for First Snow/Egorushka at Soho Rep. Other regional dance and theater credits include set and costume design for the Joffrey Ballet, Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, Stage One Theatre, New Harmony Theatre, Lyman Center for the Performing Arts, Seacoast Rep, Voice and Vision Theatre, Yale Cabaret, Yale School of Drama, New Haven Ballet, and the Chancel Opera Company. International credits include the Moscow Art Theatre Studio, Kazan Theater for Youth, Yermolova Theater, Gorky Cinema Studio. Shpitalnik is a faculty member at Paier School of Art and Southern Connecticut State University. Professional memberships include the Society of Illustrators, United Scenic Artists, and ASSITEJ. Shpitalnik holds MFA degrees from the Yale School of Drama and the Moscow Art Theatre School and a BA (equiv.) from the Abramtsevskoe Art School in Russia. In 1997, he was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts/Theatre Communications Group's Designer Fellowship.

HOLLY KO (Lighting Design) is a resident of Brooklyn, a native of Taiwan and a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College with a MFA in Theater. Her priMary Focus is lighting design for New York Dance Community, as well as for theater. She is currently the Production Coordinator of Dance Theater Workshop.


REBECCA WELLES (Costume Design) Rebecca Welles received her BA from Southern Connecticut State University in 2007 and has since been employed by The University of New Haven as Costume Designer for their student productions, including Zombies From The Beyond, Two Rooms, and A Flea In Her Ear. Rebecca also apprenticed at The Santa Fe Opera for the 2005 and 2006 seasons, and while there, designed for the apprentice scenes Hand of Bridge, and Manon.

 

ZAC JAFEE (Sound Design) is an actor/sound designer/director originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. Sound designs include the world premieres of The Black Eyed and Pleasure and Pain (Magic Theatre), The False Servant (Abydos Theater Company), Dirt and Glory, Return of the Golem (Traveling Jewish Theatre), The Hairy Ape (Columbia University, Directing MFA Program), and Balm in Gilead (NYC, Stasberg Institute). He is also in the apprentice company at The Barrow Group.
