This spring, the acclaimed literary series Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story returns to the Getty Center from March 26-27, 2011 with an unforgettable lineup of stories. Produced by New York's Symphony Space, this year's series, Delicious Fictions, features three performances by Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek), Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Denis O'Hare (True Blood), Christina Pickles (Friends), Josh Radnor (How I Met Your Mother), and other top actors reading luscious tales of food and passions, politics, mystery, and deep sea adventure. After each matinee performance and 45 minutes before Saturday's evening program, a perfectly paired wine and a scrumptious treat inspired by the series will be served.

Each performance has a themed collection of readings that begins on the afternoon of Saturday, March 26 with Confessions over Cocktails, followed by Danger at Dinner on Saturday evening, and concludes on the afternoon of Sunday, March 27 with Life and Lunch. Each story, classic and new, is set in diverse locales including a shabby Brooklyn kitchen, a submarine off the West African coast, a fancy Manhattan society dinner party, and the Karaoke Don Quixote Bar in Oklahoma City.

Selected Shorts is the signature literary program produced by New York's Symphony Space, with readings broadcast each week on National Public Radio, hosted by series director Isaiah Sheffer.

The Getty Center is the exclusive Southern California venue for Selected Shorts. Over the past 19 years, some of the finest actors of stage, screen, and television have come to the Getty to lend their voices to the series, including Alec Baldwin, Fionnula Flanagan, Stockard Channing, Rachel Griffiths, Neil Patrick Harris, John Lithgow, Jane Kaczmarek, Anjelica Huston, and William H. Macy.

All Selected Shorts programs are performed in the Harold M. Williams Auditorium at the Getty Center. Tickets are $30 ($25 for students and seniors) and are available at the Museum Information Desk or by calling (310) 440-7300 .
