The Movement Theatre Company, a Harlem-based non-profit, will feature live entertainment from Broadway performer Christina Sajous (American Idiot, Holler If Ya Hear Me) and jazz pianist Willerm Delisfort (Willerm Delisfort Project), and food from chef Alycia Harrington (Houseman, Dirt Candy) at Upscale Uptown, a Cocktail Fundraiser on Monday May 22nd.

Since 2007, The Movement Theatre Company has provided a platform for multicultural artists to explore and liberate their most audacious work. With a commitment to engage, enlighten, and empower communities, The Movement will celebrate 10 years by highlighting Harlem-based talent and honoring individuals whose work aligns with their mission.

Performer Christina Sajous, whose work on Broadway has been celebrated by audiences and critics alike, will lend her voice to the evening with a number of musical performances. Pianist Willerm Delisfort, who has collaborated with a wide range of artists including Grammy Award-winning artist T-Pain and Milton Suggs, will put an upscale twist on popular songs. Chef Alycia Harrington will concoct tasty Harlem-inspired h'orderves to serve throughout the event that will be paired with a collection of Stoli Vodka Signature Cocktails.

Additionally, The Movement Theatre Company will honor three individuals at Upscale Uptown: Carmen Neely, President of Harlem Pride; Christiamilda Correa, Special Events & Individual Giving Coordinator at The Door; and Jonathan McCrory, Director of Theatre Arts Program at The National Black Theatre.

All proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the development of new work by artists of color and increasing community access to performances and events. "The Movement Theatre Company has been inclusive of the myriad voices and points of view of artists of color. It is this kind of cutting edge work that brings humanity closer together and provides an understanding and appreciation that our differences don't have to divide us." said honoree Carmen Neely.

As The Movement prepares for their 3r d large-scale full production this summer, they seek to increase their capital and community outreach. Past successes include their breakout NY Times lauded production of Bintou and their program Harlem Nights, which has featured work by playwrights Dominique Morriseau (Steinberg Playwright Award), Christina Anderson (Aetna New Voices Fellow/Hartford Stage), and Harrison David Rivers (McKnight Fellow), and actors Danielle Brooks (Orange is The New Black, The Color Purple), Xosha Roquemore (The Mindy Project), and Mykal Kilgore (Motown, The Wiz: Live!).
