DANCERS OVER 40 Celebrates a Wonderful Year, with an extra special Spring Fling on Sunday, May 18th, from 7:00 -10:00 pm at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater Studios, 405 West 55th Street (at 9th Avenue).  There will be wine, food and music, and some of the DO40 members will perform numbers from some of the past panels -- the 'Women of Fosse' (The Manson Trio from "Pippin"), the 'Men of Fosse' (George Marcy performing from "Damn Yankees") and the 'Dancers and Creative Talents of Gower Champion' (Richard Skipper) as Carol Channing! performing from "Hello, Dolly!"  Admission is only $5.00 for members, $10.00 for FODO 40 members (Friends of Dancers Over 40 -the newest membership level and you can join now) and $15.00 for non-members.  Those participating in the AIDS Walk and with tickets from the BC/EFA event of the day may pay the member admission fee of $5.00.  Eat, drink and socialize with some of the best dancers Broadway has ever seen!  There will be raffles, t-shirts and surprises throughout the fun-filled evening.  RSVP online at www.dancersover40org or on our hotline, 212-330-7016.  Please list all attendees (not just + guests!). Attendance is limited to the first 100 people!

On a day full of remembrance and hope, DO40's bash ends the day with a party and performances from past panels, and a chance for the public to socialize with …those dancing feet!  It's a day to remember those that did not make it to 40…and those members we lost over these last 25 years.  GMHC's annual AIDS Walk begins Sunday morning May 18th, followed by a BC/EFA event honoring Cy Coleman with a concert presentation of "Pamela's First Musical", which is directed by DO40 Advisory Board member Graciela Daniele.

Dancers Over 40's panels have grown over the last twelve months from a small dance studio to an Off Broadway theatre.   There is now a larger dedicated following that includes members of the dance, theater, music communities and general public.  There is also a new level of membership, FODO 40 (Friends of Dancers Over 40), for those who are not in the "business" as dancers, but enjoy learning about the lives of these great dancers ("gypsies") and the exceptional people they worked for over their many, many years of service.

The panel presentations are filmed and donated to the Jerome Robbins Dance Collection at the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center.  Tickets for these events are usually only $5.00 for DO40 members, $15.00 for non-members. Upcoming events (dates tba) will celebrate the life of legendary dancer and choreographer Jack Cole, and feature documentary filmmaker and DO40 member Annette Macdonald and DO40 member and Cole biographer Svetlana Grody.

Dancers Over 40, Inc. was created as a not-for-profit organization to provide a community of support in response to the fiscal -- as well as physical - needs of mature dancers, choreographers and related artists. The goals are to seek educational opportunities, present seminars, socials and panel discussions on topics important to mature dancers concerned about their ability to continue to live and work in a creative environment and continue the legacy to those dancers about to begin their journey.  Founded in 1994 by a group of Broadway dancers, the growing organization also publishes a newsletter.  Memberships are available.  For more information as well as photos and features on DO40 events please go to the website:  www.dancersover40.org.
