Back by popular demand! Mount Olivet Baptist Church in partnership with Welcome to Harlem present CRAIG HARRIS' God's Trombones on Friday, December 23 at 8:00pm at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, 201 Malcolm X Boulevard (Lenox Avenue), at 120th Street | Harlem, USA.

The musical/theatre production of God's Trombones is based on the classic 1927 book of poems by James Weldon Johnson. The poems are based on the sermons of "Negro preachers" of that era yet continue to uplift and inspire people today. CRAIG HARRIS' God's Trombones reinterprets and reinvigorates this work and moves it beyond the sectarian roots of the sermons into the realm of the spirit that underlies all religious experience.

A world renowned trombonist, composer, conceptualist, and educator, Craig Harris brings 40 years of excellence to God's Trombones. He has been a major figure in jazz and has worked with notable musicans and poets, including Lena Horne, Amiri Baraka, Sun Ra, Cecil Taylor,Abdullah Ibrahim, David Murray, Henry Threadgill, Lester Bowie, Sekou Sundiata, The Roots, and Rakim, among other luminaries.
