Circus Theatricals and No Man Apart Present TITUS REDUX, 8/29-9/12

Award-winning theatre companies Circus Theatricals and Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble join forces to co-produce the World Premiere of Titus Redux,  an adrenaline-fueled adaptation of William Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus, written, conceived, and choreographed by Not Man Apart's John Farmanesh-Bocca.  Starring Circus Theatricals' Jack Stehlin in the title role, the production opens Sunday, Aug. 29, 7PM, at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City. Jeannine Wisnosky Stehlin is Executive producer.  

Infused with John Farmanesh-Bocca's signature staging - including athletic dance, original scoring and multi-media - Titus Redux is the millennium old tale of a warrior returning to what is home after the ravages of battle.  In this contemporary setting, Titus returns to his family after five tours of duty in Afghanistan to bury his eldest son. Resolving to retire from a lifetime of killing on behalf of his country, he quickly discovers that the horrors of war follow him home.

Titus Redux features an seven-member ensemble, including Jack Stehlin (Titus),  Desperate Housewives regular Brenda Strong (Tamora), three-time time daytime Emmy Award winner Margeaux J London [formerly Jennifer Landon] (Lavinia), Nicholas Hormann (Marcus Andronicus), Vincent Cardinale (Chiron), Dash Pepin (Demetrius), and John Farmanesh-Bocca (Aaron).  Live cello is provided by Houmayoun Khosravi. The production designers include Allison Leach (costumes), John Rousseau (lights), Adam Phalen (sound), Jason Collins (special effects) and James Skylar (director of photography).

Jack Stehlin recently completed a critically lauded title role performance in the Circus Theatricals staging of More Lies About Jerzy. Stehlin's extensive New York and Regional stage credits include "Salome," with Al Pacino, and nine productions at New York's Public Theatre. In Los Angeles, Stehlin has appeared in myriad Circus Theatricals productions, including Shem Bitterman's "Harm's Way" (LA and Off-Broadway), which won the prestigious Pen USA Award for Drama. Stehlin may be best known on television as DEA captain Roy Till on the popular Showtime series, "Weeds."  In June 2010, he was featured in the season premiere of "Dark Blue" with Dylan McDermott. He has two films coming out in 2010: "Wilde Salome" directed by and starring Al Pacino, and "The Chicago 8" with Danny Masterson, Gary Cole and Phillip Baker Hall. Screen Actors Guild award-winner Brenda Strong returns to the stage after a long run as Mary Alice Young (the narrator) on the award-winning hit ABC series, Desperate Housewives, now it its 7th season. Favorite Shakespeare roles are Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing and Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream, both with the Montana Shakespeare Company. She also was seen in the award-winning play Tamara, as Tamara, Aeilis and Louisa. Notable film and television roles include: Sue Ellen Mischke on Seinfeld;  Matthew Fox's love interest on Party of Five; Treat Williams' wife Julia on Everwood;  and Captain Deladier in Starship Troopers. Margeaux J. London (formerly Jennifer Landon) returns to the Kirk Douglas after last summer's critically acclaimed dual performance as both the wife and the daughter in John Farmanesh-Bocca's critically lauded production of Pericles Redux. Previously, she was accorded three consecutive Emmys for her work on the series, As the World Turns, from 2005 to 2008. Over the last seven years, London has trained with Farmanesh-Bocca at various locales, including the Ruskin Group Theatre and the Big Sur Theatre Lab near Carmel.

Currently garnering universal critical appraise and an Ovation Award Recommendation for its West Coast premiere staging of Davey Holmes' More Lies About Jerzy, Circus Theatricals celebrates its its 15th season in Los Angeles.  Best known for producing classic plays or new plays with a classic twist, the company has celebrated a string of classic and world premiere hits in both Los Angeles and Off-Broadway.  Under the leadership of Artistic Director and company founder Jack Stehlin (also known on television as Roy Till on Showtime's "Weeds," Circus Theatricals has an ensemble of actors, directors and playwrights from stage, film and television. The company also has a professional training center called The New American Studio for Theatre and Film, which offer studios in scene study, on camera acting for Film and Television, and more. This year, Circus Theatricals launched The New American Screenplay Contest, in which the winners will receive cash prizes, and the finalist in the short film category will have their film produced.
