Center for the Arts to Present THE KING AND I, Opening 7/11

The Center for the Arts located at the corner of Church and College streets off of the square in Murfreesboro is proud to introduce THE KING AND I. East versus West make for a dramatic, richly textured and ultimately uplifting tale of enormous fascination. It is 1862 in Siam when an English widow, Anna Leonowens, and her young son arrive at the Royal Palace in Bangkok, having been summoned by the King to serve as tutor to his many children and wives. The King is largely considered to be a barbarian by those in the West, and he seeks Anna's assistance in changing his image, if not his ways. With both keeping a firm grip on their respective traditions and values, Anna and the King grow to understand and, eventually, respect one another, in a truly unique love story. The Center for the Arts production is directed by Candilyn Ford.

Performance times are July 11-27, Friday-Sundays. Evening shows are on Friday and Saturdays at 7:30pm. Sunday matinees are at 2:00pm. Tickets are available online at www.boroarts.org, at the Center's box office located at 110 W. College Street, or by calling 615.904.2787. Tickets prices are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors/students/military, and $11 for children. A discount of $2 per ticket is applied to groups of 10 or more.
