Brooklyn the Musical to Play Final Week at the Schoenfeld

Brooklyn The Musical is in its final week; the show will play its final performance on Sunday, June 26th at 3:00 PM. 

The musical, by Mark Schoenfeld and Barri McPherson, directed by Tony Award-nominee Jeff Calhoun, and featuring music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Grammy and Emmy-Award winner John McDaniel, began performances on September 23rd, 2004 and opened officially on October 21st, 2004 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street).  As of Sunday, June 26th, 2005, Brooklyn will have played over 300 performances (28 preview and 283 regular performances.

The show is performed by a group of "soulful street-corner singers and storytellers.  With a mix of pop and soul, they set their stage and tell a wondrous sidewalk fairy tale about a young girl searching for fame and the father she never knew.  With just one clue to lead her, she lands in the city that bears her name…BROOKLYN."

The producers have announced a national tour beginning in 2006, with the cast, dates and cities to be announced shortly. The current Broadway cast features Eden Espinosa in the title role, Tony Award-winner Cleavant Derricks as the Street Singer, Ramona Keller as Paradice and Karen Olivo as Faith. The cast also includes Lee Morgan, Julie Reiber, Horace V. Rogers, Shelley Thomas, Will Swenson and Haneefah Wood.

Brooklyn Records has released Brooklyn The Musical, a one-of-a-kind live recording of the original cast album from the Broadway musical. The cast album, distributed by Razor & Tie, is
available at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, on the website at www.brooklynthemusical.com, nationally at retail stores and through Amazon.com.

Brooklyn's performance schedule is as follows:
Tuesday at 7:00PM, Wednesday-Saturday at 8:00PM, matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2:00PM and Sunday at 3:00PM.
