A memorial tribute for Betty Comden, "Great Women Salute A Great Woman: Betty Comden - in the words of Comden and Green," will be held Tuesday September 18 at 2PM, at Broadway's Majestic Theater (247 West 44 Street). 

Starring Lucie Arnaz, Judith Blazer, Carolee Carmello, Barbara Cook, Christine Ebersole, Lypsinka, Audra McDonald, Phyllis Newman, Elaine Stritch, Mary Testa, Leslie Uggams, Lillias White with surprise guests, the celebration of Comden's life will begin promptly at 2PM.

The one hour memorial tribute, sponsored by The Family of Betty Comden, ASCAP, The Leonard Bernstein Office, Inc., MGM, and The Shubert Organization, is free and open to the public.  Directed by David Zippel and Lee Mindel, "Great Women Salute A Great Woman: Betty Comden - in the words of Comden and Green" has Musical Direction by Paul Trueblood and is produced by Lee Mindel, Craig Urquhart and David Zippel.

Betty Comden died November 23, 2006 at the age of 89. Betty Comden, the award-winning lyricist and librettist who, with writing partner Adolph Green, created such iconic New York musicals as Bells Are Ringing, Wonderful Town and On the Town. Comden teamed up with the late Green early in her career for a partnership that would last six decades. Comden and Green enjoyed success as screenwriters with the films Singin' in the Rain, the Oscar-nominated The Band Wagon, It's Always Fair Weather, Take Me Out to the Ball Game, Auntie Mame, Good News, What a Way to Go! and The Barkleys of Broadway.

The other musicals for which the writing team penned book and/or lyrics include On the Twentieth Century; Hallelujah, Baby!; Applause; Peter Pan; A Doll's Life; Do Re Mi and The Will Rogers Follies. Betty Comden won Tony Awards for Wonderful Town; Hallelujah, Baby!; Applause; On the Twentieth Century and The Will Rogers Follies, and she was awarded The Kennedy Center Honors in 1991.
