According to the Chicago Tribune, Drury Lane Theatre's Broadway-bound production of BEACHES has just rounded out its creative team for its summer run in the Windy City.

Joining previously announced director Eric Schaeffer (Million Dollar Quartet, Follies) and Broadway producer Jennifer Maloney-Prezioso (Spring Awakening, Rock of Ages) are choreographer Lorin Latarro (Scandalous), music director Brian Nash (Silence! The Musical), scenic designer Derek McLane (Anything Goes), lighting designer Howell Binkley (Jersey Boys), costume designer Alejo Vietti (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and sound designer Kai Harada (Fun Home).

BEACHES, bringing the beloved novel and triumphant film to the stage, will run June 24 through August 16, 2015.

The musical, with music by David Austin & Iris Rainer Dart and book by Dart & Thom Thomas, was originally staged at the Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre, home to the American Musical Voices Project, the largest musical commission program in the country, under the direction of Schaeffer, artistic director and co-founder.

BEACHES follows two extraordinary friends through 30 years of camaraderie, laughter and sorrow. Vivacious, outlandish Cee Cee and beautiful, privileged Bertie meet as children and become fast friends. From pen-pals to roommates to romantic rivals, Cee Cee and Bertie's oil-and-water friendship perseveres through even the most tragic trials. With a touching vulnerability, Beaches exemplies the triumph of the human spirit and the bonds of sisterhood.
