The Kitchen will welcome back Cinema 16 for a new program pairing experimental films with an original score written and played live by Simone and Amedeo Pace of the beloved New York-based band Blonde Redhead, May 18-19.

The films in this program address issues of legacy, lifespan, and decay-both materially and conceptually.

The films include:

Norman McLauren, A Phantasy (1952)
Malcolm La Grice, Berlin Horse (1970)
Charles and Ray Eames, Power of Ten (1977)
Naomi Uman, Removed (1999)
Liz Rhodes, Dynamo Duo (1971)
Adam Beckett, Flesh Flows (1974)
Scott Bartlett, OffOn (1967)

Cinema 16 was founded and is curated by Molly Surno. The series was named after the New York-based, avant-garde film society founded by Amos and Marcia Vogel that existed from 1947 to 1963.

For the May 19 event, which will serve as a benefit concert for The Kitchen, Blonde Redhead will be joined by special musical guest, Michael Leonhart. Michael Leonhart has developed into one of the most imaginative musicians of his time, sought throughout the music and entertainment world as a trumpeter, producer, arranger, film composer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He has performed and/or recorded with music legends such as James Brown, Ringo Starr, Brain Eno, Paul Simon, Eric Clapton, Yoko Ono, and David Byrne among many others. The evening includes a cocktail, film, live performance and party with a DJ set by Simone and Amedeo Pace from their collection of classic Italo Disco. Full details and pricing follow:

May 18, 8pm - Tickets: $20
