Barter Theatre continues to usher in the season with a new children's play, "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth." Presented by the company for children, The Barter Players, and written by Catherine Bush, Barter's resident playwright, "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" begins on November 30 and runs through December 18.

When Sister Susan announces her plans for the second grade's Christmas Extravaganza, no one is more excited than lively Lucy Lesprit. She is excited to come up with a talent of her own that will help her class win the coveted Christmas trophy. When her father teaches her how to whistle - and a star is born! Lucy's talent even impresses the meanest man in town, Mr. Greenbaum, the school janitor. But Lucy's classmate and baton-twirling expert, Anna Lori Pringle, has no intention of sharing the spotlight. She challenges Lucy to a game of ice hockey at recess and "accidentally" knocks out Lucy's two front teeth. Lucy can no longer whistle!

Determined to get her whistle back, Lucy visits Santa at the mall.  Santa, after hearing her request, convinces Lucy that whistle solos aren't important - that the real secret of Christmas is being nice to people who aren't always nice to you.

Will Lucy be "nithe" to Mr. Greenbaum and Anna Lori? Will they be "nithe" back? How will she "partithipate" in the "Chrithmath" Extravaganza now that she cannot "whithle"?

Catherine Bush has written several plays for children, including this past fall's Barter Players show "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Bush said, "I came up with the idea for the new Christmas play while I was watching kids come into the theatre last year for 'Frosty.' I held the lobby door open and three kids stopped to show me their missing or new front teeth. Voila!"

The Barter Players, the company that produces classic and new plays for children, is comprised of six young actors; Jamal Crowelle, Justin Tyler Lewis, Bryan Pridgen, Ashlie Roberson, MAndy Williams, Kelli Winn and a heap of creativity. Associate Artist John Hardy directs.

"'All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth' will be a good time for everyone, regardless of how many teeth they have!" Bush added.

Sponsored by Dr. Timothy E. Collins - Pediatric Dentistry, Alpha Natural Resources and Blue Ridge Public Television, this holiday show runs through December 18. For ticket information and reservations, call Barter Theatre's Box Office at (276) 628-3991 or visit www.bartertheatre.com.
