Last year, BroadwayWorld.com, the largest theater website on the Internet, launched a comprehensive Student Database listing college and university performing arts programs across the country. This free service makes it easier for prospective students by showcasing programs searchable by schools, location, degrees and concentrations.

With the new school year in full gear, BWW has updated the fully-interactive Student Show Calendar with 2011-2012 student productions. We have also made it easy for schools to upload photos, videos, cast lists, articles and other media content for each of their shows. In addition, BWW will be combing through all content regularly and will launch weekly feature stories highlighting productions locally and nationally that have provided us with this extra content. ***

In this week's edition of BWW's School in the Spotlight, we're happy to announce that Sonoma State University takes center stage! Located in Rohnert Park, California, the School of Performing Arts at Sonoma State offers a range of degree options for students interested in Dance, Theatre and Music. Students can work toward a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts with concentrations in Acting, Dance, Technical Theatre, or General Theatre, as well as participate in an Opera and Music Theatre Program available to Theatre and Music majors.

On stage from October 20 to 28 is Paula Vogel's 'How I Learned to Drive' starring Tim Kniffin and Hana Castia. Upon endings its run at SSU, this show will be will available for touring presentations at high schools and colleges in Sonoma County. (To book a performance at a high school or college campus, please contact Juliet Pokorny at juliet.pokorny@sonoma.edu or call 707-664-3160.) Make sure to visit the show's page to see photos and a promotional video, as well as get more information on tickets and show times. Upcoming student productions include 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', 'The 3rd Annual Super Mega Molten Hot Lava New Play Festival' showcasing original works from SSU students, 'Oklahoma!', and 'Loot' amongs other performance events.
