On September 7, 2008 the curtain will fall on Broadway for the final performance of Rent.  The producers of this landmark Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize musical have generously donated a pair of "prime" tickets to the final performance and closing night gala to be auctioned with the proceeds to benefit Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS. To bid on the tickets please click HERE.

Tickets to the final show and closing night party are extremely rare, "invite only" and not available to the general public. This event will be a performance of Rent like no other with appearances by members of the original 1996 Broadway cast.  It will also be filmed by Sony Pictures Entertainment for theatrical release in the fall.

In addition to tickets to the show and party, the winning bidder will take home a
* Hardcover copy of the 1997 RENT book with original photos, interviews and backstage stories
* Poster signed by the final 2008 Broadway cast of Rent

Rent opened off-Broadway in January 1996 before moving to Broadway's Nederlander Theatre in April of the same year.  The musical tells a story of a group of destitute artists and musicians struggling to survive and be heard in New York's Lower East Side.  RENT was one of the first Broadway musicals to feature an ethnically diverse cast, including homosexual and bisexual characters.  The closing night of RENT is expected to be one of the biggest theatrical events of the year.

Rent plays at the Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41 Street, between Seventh and Eighth Avenues) Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 2pm & 7pm.
