The Amy Bennett Foundation announces that it will award the first of its annual scholarships next week at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. The scholarship will be offered yearly to graduating high school seniors who plan to study Musical Theatre/Dance. Two seniors will receive the scholarship at the Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska. The scholarship will also be awarded this year at the Arizona State Thespian Festival taking place in November.

The Amy Bennett Foundation (www.amybennettfoundation.com) was founded in September of 2014 to fund scholarships for theater students and advocate for bicycle safety, in loving memory of Amy Bennett. Amy was struck by a passing semi-truck on September 5th, 2014 while commuting on her bicycle to the Jackson Hole Playhouse in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Amy was playing a lead role as Elizabeth in the Playhouse's summer production of "Paint Your Wagon". She was airlifted to a trauma unit in Salt Lake City and died on September 8th. A graduate of the University of Northern Colorado, where she earned highest distinction in musical theater, Amy had just begun a promising Broadway career in New York City.

The Amy Bennett Foundation will have a representative onsite to award the first of these scholarships that will continue to be given on an annual basis, in loving memory of Amy.
